The Tipping List
Spring-Clean Your Diet
Nature’s tasty treats

As spring temperatures heat up and the season draws us nearer to the summer months, what’s on everyone’s mind? Little dresses, shorter shorts and hot swimsuits. Shaping up for the warmer months doesn’t have to be hard – it can be as simple as “spring-cleaning” your diet.
1.) Drink lots of cool water to keep your body hydrated as the weather warms. Water also flushes out toxins and keeps your skin looking dewy.
2.) Eat green! So much fresh food becomes available in the spring, and nothing says “Hello, I feel amazing” like the taste of fresh, natural foods and ingredients in your meals.
3.) Hit farmers markets. During the spring, farmers markets will be teeming with fresh fruits and veggies, and you’re likely to find a bigger selection at your grocery store. Take advantage of these months and fill your lunch hours with leafy green salads (cool, refreshing!), add extra vegetables to your lean proteins or toss them with pasta for dinner (think fresh broccoli, tomatoes or spinach with grilled salmon or chicken), and make dessert out of farm-fresh strawberries, blueberries and peaches. During warmer temperatures, you can also lighten up your breakfast and still feel satisfied. When it gets warm, a cool cup of nonfat raspberry yogurt sprinkled with low-fat granola hits the spot and will fuel your body through those morning meetings.
A colorful, healthy snack or meal is delicious, but even better is that these repasts are hugely rewarding to your body. Fresh produce is natural, vitamin-rich, low-calorie and oh-so-scrumptious. What other time of year can you enjoy such succulent goodness and still trim down your waistline?
