Celebs lead trend of tattooing kids’ photos on parents’ arms

To think I used to feel guilty when friends or business associates would ask me to see photos of my kids, and I’d reach into my purse only to discover I forgot my cute little mini photo album. Bad mom I’m sure was the thought racing through the asking party’s mind when I was not able to produce a physical reminder of my offspring.

But now, with celebrity parents leading the trend, it seems parents everywhere are displaying tattoos honoring their kids.

Evidently, celebs are showing us that we can never do anything more meaningful for ourselves – or for our children – than create a permanent remembrance on our skin. Angelina Jolie has the latitude and longitude coordinates for the birthplaces of Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, and Pax tattooed on her upper arm. Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham has stars for each of her sons – Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz – on her lower back. Rap artist Eminen has a portrait of his daughter, Hailie Jade, on his arm. And the list goes on.

Celebrity moms and dads are keeping their kids forever young with these meaningful, timeless tattoos. Sorry, but as much as I love my kids, I can’t see immortalizing them on my skin. But, years after my embarrassing “no photos here” negligent parental performance, I can at least point to the Internet, where my family photo album now lives on through my three children’s Facebooks – in lieu of my pocketbook.
