The Brain Battle: 30 Rock vs. The Office
We put the characters from two of our favorite shows through an ultimate challenge of wits.
Whether it takes place at a New York studio or a cubicle in Scranton, these workplaces hover somewhere between an all-out nightmare and a total laugh fest. So since it’s the off-season and we miss our favorite shows desperately, we paired characters from 30 Rock and The Office to see who would win a battle of wits. Find out now who is earning heaps of overtime and who is sleeping on the job?
The Boss: Liz Lemon vs. Michael Scott
In his smarter moments, the “World’s Bess Boss” has outed Oscar, revealed Stanley’s affair and dated Pam’s mom. Even without malicious intent, Michael Scott somehow finds a way to create far more problems than he solves. With “Liz Lemon Cool J”, it’s often the other way around. Sure, there was that time when she thought that her Middle Eastern neighbor was a terrorist. Turns out that all he wanted to kill were tryouts for The Amazing Race, though the Feds still electrocuted the guy’s testicles. But what she lacks in neighborly charm, she makes up for in an uncanny ability to put out job-related fires. She once went so far as to wear a dozen layers of clothes to prevent a dog from biting the gang that she lovingly refers to as “nerds.”
WINNER: No blergs about it: In less time than it takes to say, “What the what?” Liz Lemon could run 17 circles around Michael Scott. That is, if she used her treadmill for anything other than hanging clothes.
The Beleaguered Human Resources Guy: Pete Hornberger vs. Toby Flenderson
One is hated by Michael Scott no matter what he does while the other had to fire poor Kenneth, who might have been the most dedicated NBC Page in the history of the program.
WINNER: As is often the case with human resources, no one.
