This post is brought to you by Nordstrom Rack “Get chic plus size style at the rack!”.

The real meaning of spring fever! You’re head is spinning ‘cause there are so many fabulous trends that it’s hard to figure out what to buy, what to love and what to run away from. We’ve made updating your wardrobe for spring super easy with our handy dandy guide.

A few tips to remember when styling your spring (or any seasonal) wardrobe:

1. Belt it!

A belt will enhance your silhouette. When worn at the natural waist, it gives you a sexy hourglass shape…think Marilyn Monroe. A belt worn under the bust will elongate your figure, making you appear to be taller. And of course, it will subtly show off your décolletage.

2. Fit it!

When buying clothes, don’t buy items too big or too small. No matter what size you are, wearing the wrong size clothing not only makes you look bigger than you are, it gives the impression that you don’t care how you look. You love your adorableness, so show it off in clothing that fits.

Speaking of fits: most tailors can easily take in a waist, raise a hem or shorten a sleeve. When something is tailored to fit your body, you’ll find it wearing the item more. You’ll get a much bigger return on your investment than if you bought something and it just sat in your closet and cried.

3. Underneath it all …

No matter what you wear, your foundation should be smooth. Invest in a few bras that uplift and hold the girls to their best advantage. Shapewear is worn by every celebrity in Hollywood, no matter their size. Try shapewear boy briefs and tanks or a shapewear slip underneath your clothing and you’ll be amazed by the difference.

Tangerine Tango

It’s being heralded as the “It” color for spring, and why not? It’s cheerful and looks fabulous with any complexion. As with any bright color, you don’t want to dress in it head to toe, as it becomes visually overpowering. You want people to see you, not a fabric swatch.

If you’re nervous about wearing bright orange, start slowly with an accessory like shoes, bag or jewelry. Then build up to a dress or skirt.

If you want a touch of tangerine to your wardrobe, go with something like this:

Pair a hawt pair of orange heels with jeans for going out with friends, or a dress for work. Make errands fun with a pair of super cute orange sneaks.

Show off your curves with a big bold belt. If you’ve got a trench coat, switch out the belt and use a  skinny orange scarf instead. It’ll add a bit of color and look fresh and hip. Or thread the belt through the loops of your jeans, tie it to the side and voila! Instant chic.

Toss on an armful of orange-accented bangles or meet the day with orange sunnies.

If you’re dipping your toe into the tangerine trend pool, look for a floral dress like this one. This dress covers two trends: floral and orange (or tangerine). Because the color is broken up by a print, it’s not overwhelming.  Add a belt to show off your waist.

When kicking off a trend, start with a basic item like a tee. This one could be worn with any separate in your closet. Try pairing it with a blazer and jeans, or a cardi and a skirt. Classic cut tees in any color can easily be dressed up or down, depending on two things: your accessories and the other clothing you pair it with!

Rev up a date look or a night on the town with your girls in a top that shows off your sexy neck, shoulders and arms.

Full shorts like those shown here are an on-trend alternative to skirts in the spring. Pair them with a flat or mid-heel shoe.

Color Block

What is color block? It’s wearing two different colors together. You can pair complementary or clashing colors to create a new look. A simple way to do this — and accentuate your waist at the same time — is to add a bright belt to anything from a shirt dress to a jeans and tee outfit.

Show off your legs by finding a color block dress where the top is neutral and the bottom is bright. If you want to show off your top half, do the reverse. This is one trend you can play with and always come up with a cool combination.

Color blocking with accessories is an easy way to update any outfit.

Add some zip, zest and oomph to anything in your closet with a color block peep-toe. Wear a color block necklace anywhere; pair a color block bag with your LBD; add this two-tone belt to a basic dress and you’ve taken it to the next level.

Go soft with a pastel and neutral color blocked dress. Make it work-worthy by adding a blazer and closed-toe pumps.

Pair a color block tunic with jeans or tuck it into a pair of pants or a skirt. If you want to get wild, pair the tunic with the bright blue jeans (another HOT spring trend). For a more subtle, but still sexy look, go for a cold shoulder (cut-out) top.

  1. That purple thing is well, a big purple thing and should not be on this curvy model. Clothes should fit as the rest of the examples. Only the needy Jolie could pull it off because she’s a rail and I doubt she’d go past her beach patio in it. Well maybe if it had a slit up to there.
