Four Quick Tips for Integrating the Babysitter

  1. Talk to your kids about safety precautions regarding interactions with adults and provide scenarios. Remind them of their manners so they’ll be respectful.
  2. Introduce the kids to the babysitter before the initial babysitting (even if you trust him/her.)
  3. Talk to the sitter and kids together and separately after the first “night in” about how things went and on ways to improve the next visit. Hopefully they had a great time but a little pushing on both ends might bring up internal issues.
  4. Keep following up (without being too invasive or you’ll scare your sitter away) to make sure everyone is happy.
