Throwing the Perfect Party: Glam It Up for the Golden Globes!
Throwing a Golden Globes viewing party this Sunday? Glam it up with these fab party tips and tricks from celeb event planner Bronson van Wyck!
Only a few days to go until the next big annual awards show! The Golden Globes air this Sunday, January 13, and will be watched by some 17 million viewers—myself included. Now, I love a good party, and I love me some glitter and vintage glam, so I tapped Bronson van Wyck, the entertaining authority to the stars, for some fab party tips for the big night. Because of his vast experience in Hollywood and New York, I asked him to share his advice on how to throw a “Vintage Hollywood” Golden Globes viewing party for your friends and family in glamorous celebrity style… but without the stylist.
As the event planner who threw P. Diddy’s “party of the century,” who has worked with Beyonce and Hugh Jackman, and who has even thrown parties and state dinners for Presidents Obama, Bush, and Clinton, Bronson has a direct line to Hollywood. If anyone knows how the stars will be celebrating this Sunday evening, it’s him. Bronson’s Golden Globes party tips are nominee-inspired for maximum relevance and festivity, and will make the legendarily long broadcast (3+ hours last year!) fly by thanks to overflowing glasses of champagne, evocative décor, and (most importantly) a well-prepared host or hostess. Okay—time’s a-wastin’ and I have champagne to chill. Where do we start?
Have your guests arrive to a red carpet delineating the path to your front door. To mimic the feel of flashing paparazzi bulbs, line the path with lanterns, candles, or even blinking white lights that shimmer and shine in the winter night. You could even spray paint gold stars onto the red carpet and write your guest’s names on them for a personal Hollywood Walk of Fame. For added drama, you could get a bubble machine to fill your entryway with a little magical lightness. Then, add a table of champagne flutes filled and ready for grabbing.
Try incorporating a mylar gold rain curtain for guests to walk through as they enter, or to use as a press wall in your foyer. A treasure chest filled with props such as wigs, sunglasses, and costume jewelry will help guests get further into the mood of this golden evening.
Canapés, champagne, and more up next!
