Burn your coats! Bury your sweaters! Torch your boots! Um, okay, I’m exaggerating a bit here, but it is time to finally pack away your bulky, annoying and by now hateful winter togs and bloom fashionably with spring’s beautiful trends.
Before you hit the shops, take a look at our roundup of this Spring’s BEST fun and sexy trends.
You may not have worn pastels since you were a little kid, or you may have never worn them at all, but take a look at this season’s offerings. Pastels are showing up in everything from jeans to moto jackets, and you’ll look good enough to eat.
2. Tangerine Tango
Tangerine Tango, according to the color expert Pantone, is the hot color for spring. You can call it Tangerine, Tango, orange, hot coral, but either way, it’s a bouncy, cheerful color for spring and summer and looksgood on everyone. Swoon!
Florals this season aren’t like the scary prints you’ve seen in John Hughes ’80s movies. They can be bold, pastel or tiny, but they’re not twee or (pardon the pun) wallflowerish. I mean, do Thandie Newton, Jayma Mays or Taylor Swift look like they’re gonna fade away in their floral gear?
4. Mad Men Redux
Ah the return of lady-like styling. We saw this trend start about a season after Mad Men became uber popular. With Banana Republic creating more than one collaboration with Mad Men stylist Janie Bryant, it’s clear that this retro chic look will be here for another season. Vintage enthusiasts will be checking out thrift stores and their fave online and offline vintage shops to score pieces from the era. The rest of us will hit the stores for smart, ladylike togs that whisper just the right hint of naughty secretary.
5. Exposed Midriff
The tummy’s showing again this spring. This trend was seen on runways including Band of Outsiders, the venerable Bill Blass, Preen, Miu Miu and more. On the red carpet, we’ve seen Scarlett Johansson wearing Dolce & Gabbana for the We Bought a Zoo premiere and Rooney Mara wearing Miu Miu at the Berlin premiere of Girl With A Dragon Tattoo. Get your fake-bake out and start doing some crunches!
