Vatican Pardons Beatles
Paper says Beatles music better than that of today
-Julie Ryan Evans
Time sure does heal all wounds … whoever thought the Vatican (yes, the one in Rome) would come out in support of the Beatles.
The same Beatles who in 1966 ignited fires – literal ones in some cases – for religious masses to burn their Beatles albums in after John Lennon declared that the band was “more popular than Jesus Christ.”
“The remark by John Lennon, which triggered deep indignation, mainly in the United States, after many years sounds only like a boast by a young working-class Englishman faced with unexpected success after growing up in the legend of Elvis and rock ‘n’ roll,” stated the Vatican daily L’Osservatore Romano.
The paper went on to say that the songs of the Beatles were much more creative than today’s”standardized, stereotypical” music.
Hmmmm … I’m thinking they didn’t listen to many of the lyrics very closely or they’ve relaxed a little bit … how ‘bout we do it in the road anybody? I get high with a little help from my friends …
