Video Gallery: 7 More Cringeworthy Marriage Proposal Fails
Learn the do’s and don’ts of popping the question from these 7 cringeworthy marriage proposal fails. Ouch!
We’ve all seen the scene in the movies: The couple is at some gigantic event. He looks handsome. She looks adorable. Then, suddenly, he grabs a microphone from somewhere nearby or a camera projects their images on a gigantic screen. He goes down on one knee. She squeals. He slips the ring on her finger, and then they kiss passionately to the swelling of the violins. Ah, romance!
Unfortunately, real life doesn’t actually work like the movies—and sometimes people learn that lesson the hard way. People like the stars of these 9 failed marriage proposals, for instance. We feel for them; rejection hurts, especially when it’s caught on camera. At the same time, though, we feel equally bad for the people to whom they were proposing for being put in these awkward situations without warning. Ouch.
But lest you think these major marriage proposal fails were in vain, fear not, for we can learn from their mistakes! There are many lessons to be found in this second installment of our Failed Marriage Proposal series, but if you take away only two, let them be these: 1) Don’t pop the question in an extremely public place, and 2) Don’t do it without having talked it over first. In depth. Many times.
Ready? Prepare to cringe!
1. Live TV Fail: The Sequel
Another live TV fail, this time with Australian accents. The Footy Show is a popular Aussie sports program, but unfortunately, not even its popularity could prevent the stricken young woman from sprinting the heck out of there.
2. Dutch Football Fail
There’s no jumbo-tron this time, but apparently the sporting event proposal fail is universal no matter what language it’s in. You may not be able to speak Dutch (though if you do speak it, bonus points for you), but you can see her getting increasingly uncomfortable the longer it goes on, until… well, you get the idea. Also: It looks COLD. Not the ideal circumstances for a proposal!
