Giuliana and Bill Rancic

Well, I was GOING to suggest some of the names I came up with for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s son, but apparently they will be of no use here. Ah well. After their baby shower last Sunday, parents-to-be Giuliana and Bill Rancic took a long walk—partially, as they told People, to “walk off too many cupcakes” (no such thing!), but largely to discuss baby names. An hour and a half later, they had a short list.

Of course, Giuliana and Bill aren’t revealing exactly WHICH names are on that short list yet, but they’re apparently leaning towards old-fashioned. Giuliana told People, “We’re going for traditional but not commonly used. None of those Hollywood names. It won’t be anything like Stereo System or Flag.” Darn! Guess I’m going to have to find another wee one on which to foist “Jackelope Lampshade.”

In all seriousness, though, I like the idea of “traditional but not commonly used.” I wonder if she’ll go the Alyson Hannigan route—“Satyana” and “Keeva” are both unusual, but fairly modern and still sound like actual names—or take after Lily Allen instead (“Ethel Mary”—old-fashioned and adorable)?

It’s certainly been a long time coming for these two, so no doubt they’ll take great care when choosing their new son’s name. Since their surrogate is in Colorado, the plan is for the baby to be born there (“We don’t want to take her away from home,” Giuliana explained).

The clock is ticking!

Tell us: What “traditional but not commonly used” name would you suggest for Giuliana and Bill’s baby?
