Who Wore It Better? Jennifer Lawrence vs. Anna Kendrick in Rich Swirls of Color
Jennifer Lawrence and Anna Kendrick sported similar looks on different red carpets at the TIFF. Who pulls it off better? Weigh in here!
Two of our favorite young actresses, Jennifer Lawrence and Anna Kendrick, are currently both hard at work at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting their new films: Silver Linings Playbook for Jennifer and The Company You Keep for Anna. Looking at their red carpet gown choices, we couldn’t help but notice that they looked remarkably similar! They’re not the same dress, but they both feature dark swirls of rich, autumnal colors. So: Who do you think wore the look better, Anna or Jennifer?
You’ll probably recognize Anna’s pick from yesterday’s Love It or Hate It?: Part of Mulberry’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection, this fitted silk confection features artful whorls of midnight blues, autumn oranges, and inky blacks.
Jennifer, on the other hand, is wearing Dior, and it’s satin rather than silk. Instead of swirling blues and oranges, her gown showcases tie-dyed forest greens and eye-popping crimsons, and the hemline of its full skirt almost—but not quite—sweeps the floor. Like the model who sported the dress on the runway, Jennifer finished her look with stick straight hair (which she’s dyed dark again in preparation for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and red lips.
As much as it pains me to say it, I don’t love the look on Jennifer. She’s a pretty big risk-taker when it comes to her red carpet style, and it often pays off (remember how glorious she looked at the premiere of The Hunger Games back in March?). This, however, is a little too harsh and goth for my taste; in fact, I didn’t even recognize her the first time I saw the pic. Anna’s look is a little less gutsy, but overall, I think it pulls together a little better than Jennifer’s.
That’s just me, though. What do you think, Bettys? Tell us in the comments!
