A while ago I asked you guys to help me pick a paint color for my “dining room” — which for the last zillion years has actually been a play room. I just spent two days moving furniture, boxing up old toys, and painting (with the help of an awesome friend, who not only brought her own edging brush but a bottle of wine!) … and I am THRILLED! I can’t believe how much difference a fresh coat (or two) of beautiful paint makes!!

Let’s take a refreshing gander at the “BEFORE” shots of what had turned into a fairly chaotic mess in the middle of my house:
YIKES, right? Here’s what it looks like now:
I still have a lot of work to turn this playroom into a dining room, but I am SO INSPIRED by the beautiful start. I absolutely love the color, Lavender Cloud. It looks a little bit girly with that dollhouse bookshelf, but soon that item will be moved upstairs along with the rest of the kid stuff, and I think the color is going to make a beautiful palette for a cheerful but sophisticated dining room. Especially in the winter, when it gets so dark and dreary out!
I found the whole process to be really quite simple, from choosing the color, to buying the supplies and getting the room painted. One thing that totally shocked me once I got started was realizing how dirty the WALLS were. Once I took down all of the drawings that my daughter had taped all over the place I was horrified! Look at these before and after shots…
