Help! My “dining room” has been an ad hoc “play room” since we bought our house. It made sense at the time: moving from a small apartment, we didn’t even own a dining room table, and since our daughter, Isabella, wasn’t even one yet, it made sense to have some toys in there, so she could be occupied close to the kitchen. It worked out perfectly while she was little, but … fast forward TEN YEARS and I’m ready for a change!

I want to take back the dining room, and while I hunt for a table, I’m going to start with repainting the walls. Ergo, I was totally thrilled to work with Glidden paint to kickstart my dining room makeover! I actually am pretty happy with the color we originally chose (a decade ago!): I forget what it’s called, but it’s a very very VERY pale blue. It’s so blue it’s almost white. What I like about it is that it plays to the strength of the room, which is that it gets a lot of nice light (I go for rich, warm colors in darker rooms to make them cozy, and light colors in bright rooms to enhance the airiness). However, I think I’d like to kick it up a notch and find a more saturated pale blue. I’m also open to going wild and crazy, and going in a totally different color direction. This is where YOU come in! I’ll show you my options, but first, here’s what we’re working with:
I know, I know — I decided not to even tidy up before I took the pics. This is real life, complete with all the clutter! It’s a nice space with beautiful floors and good light … Hopefully you can make out the paint color behind all that stuff Isabella has up on the wall. OK, so, on to choosing a new color!
