50 Shades of Grey

Attention, 50 Shades of Grey fanatics: Longing for the chance to indulge in your own 50 Shades fantasy? Well, now’s the time to do it—and at one of the book’s most prominent locations.

Much like the town of Forks, WA, the Heathman Hotel in Portland, OR has recently seen a terrific gain in popularity as a tourist destination due to its association with a certain book series. In this case, it happens to be the site of many a tryst for 50 Shades of Grey’s Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele—so naturally, the hotel has decided to capitalize on this connection. According to the Heathman’s website, when you book a room at the hotel, you have the option to add a whole bunch of 50 Shades-themed amenities to your stay. These amenities range from the simple (a bottle of the chilled white wine which just so happens to be Christian’s favorite waiting in your room for you on arrival) to the extravagant (a helicopter ride through Portland ending with dinner at the famed Heathman Restaurant).

Personally, I’m no 50 Shades fan (as you all probably know by this point), so I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to book a stay at the Heathman; however, given that I would, if given the chance, fly to New Zealand and go visit Hobbiton (which, by the way, is now a permanent fixture of the town of Matamata) on a Lord of the Rings/Hobbit tour, I can’t really begrudge anyone for wanting to live out their literary fantasies.
