You Can Find Faith in Reality
Tapping into life’s unexpected miracles
“At the end of the day, faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. It’s like one day you realize that the fairy tale may be slightly different than you dreamed. The castle, well, it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important to be happy ever after, just that it’s happy right now. See, once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you, and once in a while people may even take your breath away.”
– Meredith Grey, Grey’s Anatomy
The majority of what’s on TV is meaningless, but this quote is a real diamond in the rough. I’ve noticed that people tend to strive for the perfect relationship: the perfect person who looks perfect and does everything perfectly. The only problem with that is perfection doesn’t exist. Accepting imperfections is a much more beautiful act, because the truth is no one’s perfect. The moment people can accept this conclusion is the moment they can open their hearts to real, pure love.
And sure, entertaining the idea of being with someone forever is incredibly enticing, but it’s not definite. Nothing is set in stone. When you’re happy in the present moment, that’s what truly matters. The past has passed and the future is determined by the present. Appreciate the moments when people in your life give you butterflies or give love selflessly. And who knows? Maybe someone will keep you happy in the present moment forever.
