Zooey Deschanel, Taylor Swift + More: 12 Fab Celebrity Instagram Users
We think photo-based social networking app Instagram is pretty neat. So do Zooey Deschanel, Taylor Swift, and these other celebs!
For quick messages, there’s Twitter. For longer news items, there are official blogs. For quick, funny things to share, there’s Tumblr. And for images? Why, there’s Instagram of course! Though it’s by no means a new social media tool—it’s been around since September of 2011—it’s hard to ignore the fact that so many celebs seem to be hopping on the Instagram bandwagon. And why wouldn’t they? It’s a great way for them to stay in touch with their fans, and it provides a creative tool with which to give said fans a peek into what happens behind the scenes in the life of the famous.
So here you go: Have some Monday morning eye candy. From Hailee Steinfeld to Ian Somerhalder, here are some of our favorite celebrity Instagram users and a bunch of their fabulous photos. Say cheese!
1. Zooey Deschanel
Of course Zooey Deschanel would have an Instagram account; she is the celebrity poster child for quirky, artistic endeavors, after all. The above shot is a pic of herself she shot on Valentine’s Day and sent out to her fans with the upbeat message, “Happy valentine’s day!!!! From, me;” sometimes, though, she shares images of things like her nails painted like little miniature tuxedos. Want more? She posts loads of her Instagram creations on her Tumblr, so head on over there and check it out.
2. Selena Gomez
Of course Selena Gomez is on Instagram! Beware, though—there are loads of fake Selena Gomez accounts. This is the real one, though—the one hooked up to her verified Twitter account. Selena tends to post a lot of moody self-portraits like this one (“Regardless it’s a blue eyeshadow kinda day…), but sometimes she shares pictures of amazingly tasty-looking things. Want more? Check out her Twitter, of course! Pssst: The Biebs is on Instagram too, so expect a lot of crossing over between the two accounts.
3. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift uses her Instagram account to share pics of things like the homemade snow globes she made over the holidays. The above shot was accompanied by the message, “Nothing quite like a freezing cold, wintery beach.” True that. Taylor tends to Tweet most of her Instagram creations, so you can always be sure to find her photos there.
4. Ian Somerhalder
There’s a story behind this shot. Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder (who describes himself on Twitter as “Dead guy on LOST now undead on The Vampire Diaries,” which I find inexplicably hilarious) sent it out into the world with the following words: “Just found this old photo. It was taken on set of ‘lost’.” Neat-o!
5. Hailee Steinfeld
Did you fall in love with Hailee Steinfeld when she whirled onto the scene in True Grit? Because we sure did. She also seems like a delightfully normal teenage girl, which just makes us love her more. Like many of our favorite Instagram-ing celebs, Hailee posts a lot of her pics on Twitter; in January, for instance, she Tweeted out her discovery that an ad she shot for GUESS seven years ago (when she was about eight years old) still exists—in Italy, of all places. And here she is with it! Adorbs.
6. President Barack Obama
That’s right! Our fearless leader joined Instagram at the beginning of January this year. He probably won’t let us see any of the top-secret Washington, DC interiors he undoubtedly frequents, but he has treated us to on-the-scene shots of things like his videoconference to Iowa caucus-goers. Obama definitely gets the award for Most Socially Networked President in History.
